American Express launched a SECRET BENEFIT on their credit cards that earn Membership Rewards points, and it can give you a lot more value for those points when you redeem them - learn how! Click “Show More” to see Ad Disclosure.
It pretty much goes without saying that if you want to redeem Amex points for maximum value, then you’ll need to use Amex transfer partners. This means you take your Amex points, transfer them out to a partner airline or hotel program, and then redeem within that partner program. The highest point values are often seen when traveling on a long-haul international flight in a premium cabin, however, there’s still great value to be had with other types of redemptions.
In short, would you rather redeem 50,000 points for a flight or 60,000 points…for the same flight?
I think the answer is clear.
The fewer points you redeem for a trip, the more points you’ll have left over for future trips.
While transfer partners do not guarantee the best value all the time, they have the greatest probability of doing so compared to booking via a portal.
That said, learning the transfer partner game can be quite complex, and this new SECRET BENEFIT that Amex launched can simplify the game in a huge way!
