1,138 police personnel who were recruited between 2018 to 2020 without proper advertisement held a peaceful rally at PHQ Junction Kohima.
K.Soriso PRO Kohima, informed that with the approval of Deputy Commissioner, the peace rally allowed only 150 police personnel to attend the rally which was held at PHQ Junction Kohima organised by the aggrieved police personnel. During the rally each representative from 40 units submitted their grievances representation to DGP.
It was also informed THAT the rally was allowed only for one hour duration and restricted the rally march which was supposed to be held from PHQ Junction to Secretariat Kohima. The demand of the quash police personnel was to deliver justice and demand on "why only 2018-2020 batch and why only in the police department."
Meanwhile the court order directed that fresh recruitment should be carried out at the earliest, preferably within six months.
The court also allowed the private respondents (the appointed constables)
to continue in service for six months from the date of the judgment or until fresh appointments are made.
The court, however, allowed the individuals whose appointments were quashed to participate in the new selection process. They will receive a relaxation in the upper age limit, but the court emphasized that there will be no relaxation in terms of basic qualifications or the departmental physical criteria.
