Due to a railway malfunction on the Seto Ohashi Bridge, we temporarily changed our itinerary and climbed the mountain to Kotohira's Kotohira-gu Shrine in Shikoku. As the head shrine of Kotohira Shrine, the 1,368 steps are a true test of the devotion and perseverance of the worshippers. However, the approach to the shrine is filled with various shops, making it a delightful place to eat and stroll.
Anime fans will feel a sense of familiarity here, as many popular series like "Detective Conan" and "Chibi Maruko-chan" were filmed in this area. Additionally, the shrine enshrines the greatest demon king of Japan, Emperor Sutoku, who is one of the three great vengeful spirits. Kotohira-gu Shrine is definitely a place worth visiting in Shikoku.
