A beautiful snowy January day set the scene for the Old Hastings Snow Riders 2nd Annual Vintage Snowmobile Show and Ride. On January 18th 2025, snowmobile enthusiasts flocked to Bancroft and gathered at the OHSR's clubhouse in L'Amable.
The success of last year's show carried over to this year and snowmobile fans were treated to 50 vintage sleds on display; 12 more than last year. The organizers were impressed with the turnout as they ran out of voting ballets. Around 100 ballets were cast and the top 5 snowmobiles won the People's Choice trophy, which was awarded inside the clubhouse.
After a BBQ lunch, 30 snowmobiles went out on a 40 km trail ride into the popular "maze" trail system. Not all the machines made it, but most of them faired well and make it back to the clubhouse. If you were one of the unlucky participants to break down you can only hope you were the first because you would have had the honour of receiving The Burnt Piston award.
At the end of the day there were many stories and laughs shared. Everyone left excited for the upcoming snowmobile season and thoughts of how big this show could grow next year.
