In this episode, I revisit the location where I shot my Serpentine star trails image - Snettisham Jetty - always guaranteed to be an immersive night under the stars with the amazing sounds of roosting waders from the vast mudflats that separate the beach from the Wash.
My objective for the night was to create a Winter Milky Way arch panorama over the jetty. I've shied away from panorama images over the last year or so, mainly as a result of some frustrating failures. But I was reinspired by Jeroen (@StarScaperPhoto ) during our recent trip to Germany's Eifel region, and resolved to get back into it.
As you'll see, it was a very different sort of night to my usual nightscape experience, with pros (enforced slowing down, with time to enjoy the night sky) and cons (a lot of complexity in post production). I'm not convinced the outcome was worth the time and effort, but there's never a wasted night under the stars in such a beautiful environment. Let me know what you think!
