[Course Information]
The Eco Tour Train departs from major stations in Seoul (Seoul Station, Yeongdeungpo, Cheongnyangni, etc.) and Suwon Station, traveling across the country with bicycles on board. After reaching the destination, riders embark on a local cycling tour, followed by a return trip to Seoul.

This service not only transports bicycles but also provides comprehensive support, including checkpoints (CP) along the cycling route for refreshments and events. Emergency support is also available if needed.

This time, we joined the Geumgang-Gongju cycling event in collaboration with Gongju City. The 80km course features a scenic riverside ride with an elevation gain of about 500m, offering a relaxing and healing cycling experience.

The journey began at Seoul Station, where we traveled by Eco Train to Jochiwon Station.

From Jochiwon Station, we cycled through Jocheon to Mihocheon, then merged onto the Geumgang River. Heading downstream along the Geumgang, we crossed the Haknarae Bridge to the southern bank of the river. This unique bridge has a separate cycling and pedestrian path beneath the roadway, ensuring a safe and pleasant ride.

From the southern bank, we crossed the Geumgang River again via Bulti Bridge and arrived at our first checkpoint at the Seokjangni Museum.

At the museum, we enjoyed a refreshment break with chestnut Madeleines provided by Gongju City, toured the museum, and then headed to Gongsanseong Fortress for lunch. Afterward, we visited the Tomb of King Muryeong before cycling back to Bugang Station—a total of 80km.

This route is quite manageable and enjoyable, especially for road bike riders.

[Riding Log]
Date: Saturday, November 16, 2024
The weather suddenly turned cold. Up until the 15th, it felt like summer, with some people still wearing short sleeves. However, a rainstorm brought a sharp drop in temperature.

The unexpected cold, a new route, and my first time riding a Brompton made this ride physically challenging.

I managed to reach Gongsanseong Fortress, but after lunch, my companion, Chloe, decided to call it quits and took a staff's car to Gyeonggang Station. I then took over Chloe’s P Line Brompton and embarked on the 40km return journey alone.

Out of the 42km return trip, I sped through the first 20km at 30km/h but had to endure the remaining 22km with tired legs.

Timeline:

9:30 AM: Departure from Jochiwon Station
4:30 PM: Arrival at Bugang Station
6:30 PM: Leisurely dinner and coffee near Bugang Station
8:30 PM: Train departure from Bugang Station
10:30 PM: Arrival at Seoul Station
