Travel to Mount Otpan Tau in Mangistau.
Translated from the Kazakh language, Otpan means fire, which means Fire Mountain. Mount Otpan in Mangistau is one of the central points of the region. The mountain is an elevation 540 meters above sea level. which is quite high for this region. Mount Otpan offers a beautiful panorama of the surrounding area. Also on Mount Otpan a monument to Adai (Adai-Ata) and two minorets were erected. The height of the Adai monument is 37 meters and symbolizes the two minorets on the sides symbolizing the wings of Adai Ata and his two sons, Kudaike and Kilimberdy.
Mount Otpan - how to get there.
Otpan Tau is located in the Mangistau region in the Republic of Kazakhstan and is part of the Western Karatau mountains. The main landmarks here are the mountain tracts of Karasai and Besbulak, between which Mount Otpan Tau is located.
Mount Otpan - information for tourists.
A staircase of 360 steps leads to the top of the mountain. At the top of the mountain there is a monument to Adai Ata. Adai was the ancestor of the Kazakh tribe Adai. Adai Ata lived in the 15th century. There is also a figure of a wolf installed here, which symbolizes a symbol of freedom and a symbol of strength. The leopard sculpture is also installed here and next to the Aksaray building. Aksaray is an octagonal building (the number 8 is considered sacred among the Turkic peoples and symbolizes the infinity of the universe). The complex was opened in 2007.
Mount Otpan.
Mount Otpan Tau rises 532 meters above sea level and is the highest in Mangistau. At its top there is a 37-meter monument to the ancestor Adai, a historical figure and hero, in whose honor the historical and cultural complex “Otpan Tau” was opened in 2007. Clan rulers gathered at Otpan Tau to consider and make important decisions in the fate of the people. From here the elders and sages sent warriors to battle. Here the ancestors made sacrifices, praying to the Almighty for mercy for their descendants, and set off on a long journey. Since ancient times, this place was considered a shelter from cold and heat, from enemies and foes, from wind and snowstorm. The historical complex “Otpan Tau” includes: Aksaray – the white stone mausoleum of Adai ata; an exhibition dedicated to the history of Mangystau, information about the history and culture of the tribes and peoples living in this territory, a monument to the wolf - the totem and progenitor of the ancient Turks, the “Fire of Unity” was lit - a symbol of independence. Currently, not only residents of Mangistau, but also neighboring republics (Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) come to the Otpan Tau monument, which indicates its popularity among the people.

As a child, I really liked to sleep in the car rather than in the house. Now it turns out it was car camping! Such a vanlife! I live in my car quite professionally. In Western countries, a special term was coined during the night in the car and in Vanlife - boondocking. It means a VanLife night in a car in a random place not intended for overnight stays in a car with a completely absent VanLife infrastructure in this place. For some reason, in our country another definition of vanlife is more common - carcamping, that is, a narrower phenomenon. People on the way somewhere spend the night in a car somewhere in the middle of the forest.
