Location: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture
Brief History: Hōkan-ji, also known as Yasaka Pagoda, is an ancient temple located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto. Its history dates back to the Asuka period and was founded by Prince Shotoku. The five-story pagoda is one of the symbols of Kyoto. Although many of the temple's buildings have been burned down several times throughout history, the pagoda has been rebuilt each time. Today, visitors can climb the pagoda and overlook the ancient streets of Kyoto.
