Brief History: Okazaki Shrine, also known as the Rabbit Shrine, is famous for its adorable rabbit statues. It was established during the Heian period (794-1185) to protect the eastern side of Heian-kyo (ancient Kyoto). Due to the large number of wild rabbits in the area, rabbits gradually became the symbol of the shrine, believed to be guardians of fertility and safe childbirth. As a result, many people visit to pray for pregnancy, smooth delivery, and family happiness.
