This R107 Video: Installing Valves & Valve Stem Seals
UPDATE: Before installing the Compensating Elements (AKA - Hydraulic Lifters), you need to bleed them down first or your valves will be held open on crank up. Here's a link to the update video:

I am documenting every part of this vehicle as I put it back together. The idea is to end up with the best documented M117 560SL rebuilds on the Internet.
Please subscribe. You may need this one day and I will be here for you.
Links to the manual and links to all tools used in this video are below.
In this video I mention Sun Valley Mercedes Transmissions. I feel they are the only place in the USA to have your Mercedes-Benz transmission rebuilt or exchanged. Tell Marc at Sun Valley you saw this video:

I want everyone who visits my channel to know about a friend of mine name Tasos. His videos inspire me to be more like him. The man is amazing I feel and his videos have helped me greatly. There is NO way I would be this far without his help. You can find his YouTube channel at:

My videos are not sponsored by anyone. The products and tools I use are products and tools I have purchased with my own money. I include links below to any special tools or products used in this video.
See my DIY Valve Seat Vacuum Tester video for information and links for the vacuum testing tool here:

To lubricate the valve stem and valve stem seal I used Castrol GTX Classic 20W-50 Conventional Motor Oil with Zinc. Zinc can help with the break-in procedure.

I used Driven Racing Oil Engine Assembly Grease when installing the valve keepers. I liked the way it performed for me here:

In this video I used a 13mm deep dish socket. I used the one that came with my NEIKO 3/8-Inch-Drive Impact Socket Set:
https://amzn.to/3w46HH9
To install the valve springs I used the Orion Motor Tech Valve Spring Compressor tool. It worked and it is inexpensive:

Here is a link to a more expensive lever type valve spring compressor tool:

The Mercedes-Benz Valve Spring Compressor tool I used when I dissasembled the valves is always out-of-stock. Here it is on Amazon:

Here is a valve spring compressor tool similar (not as good) to the one above. It works and you can actually purchase it:

But you also need a 24mm socket to remove and install the Compensating Elements. The one I used is the NEIKO 02474A 1/2" Impact Socket Set, 15 Piece Metric Socket Set 10-24 mm, Deep Sockets, 6 Point:

To torque the Compensating Elements down I used the GEARWRENCH 3/8" Flex Head Electronic Torque Wrench with Angle. It works great, but it's expensive in my opinion:

This video is very detailed and is intended for the absolute beginner (ME). This is how I did things. If you see a problem, let me and the world know by leaving a comment.
Disclosure: I have never pulled an engine before and I have never rebuilt one either. This video series is documenting an inexperienced old guy tore apart his 1987 560SL.
