This is now the 3rd visit to Taiwan in 12 months, you can tell I love this place!! One of the very first sort of "weird foods from Asia" people might tell you about could be 'Stinky Tofu' (called' 'Chou Dou Fu' in Mandarin, its awesome by the way!), and I think you SHOULD have it among a whole line of other excellent deep-frying delights on your first morning in Taiwan.
These two restaurants this morning are walking distance apart, and I am staying just a few train stops down the TaoYuan Airport - LaoJie line while waiting to take the train to the East coast of Taiwan. Beautiful memories as always from Taiwan coming not only from the food, but also the lovely vendors and middle-age and elderly people always up for a chat on the street, this is a very special place for me and I am already again counting the days until the NEXT trip to Taiwan :)
