Monterey's Magical History Tour with Tim Thomas Join local historian Tim Thomas as he explores Monterey’s rich past. Each Magical History Tour, Tim covers a new topic, sometimes inviting guests for conversation. In this installment, Tim discusses how Monterey helped save California's chicken industry. Before 1920, the California chicken industry was in big trouble. Unless you lived on a farm, people did not eat chicken like we do today because it was expensive. It was the humble Monterey sardine that came to the rescue and eventually gave us the McChicken Sandwich and Colonel Sanders. Recorded on 5/25/2023.
