On December 4th 2022, the Museum of London- which had stood on the south-western edge of the Barbican since 1976- sadly closed its doors for good.
Fortunately, it will be reopening a short distance away; within a collection of renovated Victorian market buildings at West Smithfield under the slightly new name of the 'London Museum'.
This move is scheduled to take several years though, so with this in mind, I thought I'd have one last look around the old museum before it shut... and in this video I'd like to share my visit- and favourite artefacts- with you.
There's a lot to see here, including objects from pre-historic times, evidence of Boudicca's revolt, Medieval fashions, Oliver Cromwell's death mask, a prison door from the dreaded Newgate Gaol and much, much more.
