Abdominal exercises 8 weeks after DIEP Surgery – Beginner option

So these are the exercises you are going to do after surgery but just to remember to do them 8 weeks after you have had your surgery. So we are going straight to our abdominal muscles first. We are going to lie down on the floor.




The first exercise is: -

1. Just coming up and back down. Then you can brace your head, holding it up and back down. Make sure you are using your abdominal muscles, controlling up, going back down again. Up and back down again. You will do these for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off and repeat four times.

2. The next exercise we will lie back down on the floor. This time we are just going to work our lower abdominals by moving our lower body and keeping our upper body nice and still. So we will tuck in, control back down making sure that back does not arch, keeping your head on the floor, control in and back down. Again you work for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off and you repeat that four times.

The following exercise:-

3. You will sit on the floor, legs straight, hands up here and just going to move them side to side to side, managing to control side to side, making sure your shoulders are not hunching over, keeping nice and taut, controlling movement side to side. Again 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off and repeat four times.

4. My final exercise is lying down on the floor. I am just going to have my legs straight and tuck one leg in, point your toes, extend it back out, tuck one knee in, pointing your toes extending back up. Tuck your knees in, point your toes and back up. Again you will do that 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off and repeat that four times.
