Hi Everyone!

Breast Reconstruction following Breast Cancer Treatment is becoming a more common, particularly with advanced reconstruction techniques and the involvement of Plastic Surgeons. In this video I walk you through one of the more recent Breast Reconstruction techniques - a DIEP Flap Reconstruction.

I will educate you on the Post Operative Restrictions including things such as when you can start Driving, when you can start Exercising, and when to start Massaging your Abdomen and new Breast Tissue. Women who have gone through a DIEP Flap Reconstruction will most likely tell you that you'll have a very tight tummy following this operation, and that the tension can impact your posture if left untreated.

This is a very big operation and from my clinical experience treating women following this procedure, I would definitely recommend seeing a Physiotherapist 6 weeks following the surgery. It is vital to let your tissues heal for 6 weeks before commencing any Physiotherapy. Huge thanks to Nurse Amanda from our local Plastic Surgeon Dr Grant Fraser-Kirk's office for helping me with the information with this video!

I hope you enjoy this video! Remember to SUBSCRIBE, give the video a THUMBS UP if you like it, and leave a COMMENT in the section below the video if you have any questions about DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction Surgery.
