Video number 5 in my 'All The Mods' series features a restoration of a 1973 Yamaha TX500. This moto came into my hands rather strangely as a gift and took about a decade to complete and make into a runner. My son and I were busy with other things so it just took a back burner.
The TX500 is a historically significant (my opinion) motorcycle because of the amount of innovation Yamaha put into this platform. This TX was one of the early adopters of a 180 degree firing sequence and incorporated engine counterbalancing. There are stories about cylinder heads cracking but my opinion is that is an excuse and an urban legend promoted by mechanics who didn't do proper maintenance on these precision machines. I didn't include a riding sequence at the end but I hope you enjoy the exhaust note and walk around.
