The friendly folks at San Luis Central allowed some on-the-scene taping of another typical day on their unique little railroad. GE 70-tonner #71 was subbing this particular day. #71 was built new for SLC in January 1955 to replace its only steam locomotive. #71 has spent its entire life working between Monte Vista and Center, Colorado for the SLC. Today, she is back-up power for the other locomotive on SLC's roster: SW8 #70. SLC interchanges all its traffic to SLRG at Sugar Jct. (Monte Vista). Francie Nye, whom this video is dedicated to, worked as SLC's Manager Administration for many years at Monte Vista.
