Labour is under pressure to deliver on its promise to scrap migrant hotels, with no end date yet confirmed by the Home Office.

The cost of housing asylum seekers in hotels has hit £5.5 million a day, according to The Times.

Since Labour took office, the number of migrants in hotels has risen by 8,500, despite their pledge to end the use of asylum hotels and save taxpayers billions.

By December 2024, 38,079 migrants were in hotels, up 29% from June 2024.

Angela Rayner is said to be pushing for a clear deadline and wants the Government to end contracts with private firms housing migrants.

Kevin O’Sullivan speaks with political commentator, Rakib Ehsan.
