Big lakes are hard to fish

My dad and I head back to the big lake, hoping for giant striper.

We get there moderately early and get right into it, easily pushing off the almost beach like shore. We soon realize that the fishing will not be like it was last time, and that we could even be skunked. My dad brought frozen dead fish for bait but I can't seem to not use a lure for some reason. I did catch the first fish, but my dad caught 4 or 5, and (spoilers) I only caught one and got nibbled after the one. Eventually ended up laying down and casting which is when I got the bite/s but that was all the action I saw that day. I even trolled my special Facebook marketplace shad thing with a curly tail across this enormous amount of water to get back to the dock and I did not even get a bite.

This trip made me realize the difference between smaller bodies of water like my normal spots and enormous lakes like this one. When you have such an enormous body of water there is so much space that fish can migrate for one of their picky reasons and they'll be miles and miles away from where they were before, meaning that to chase the fish you need a way to get to them quickly to find them in the first place, and a way to locate them if that's studying behavior patterns and making educated guesses or just using technology to get a fish UAV and know instantly. Also some places you can't drive to at this lake and I am not trying to paddle 25 miles.

What I'm saying here my dudes (that covers all genders) is that big lakes are either a ton of experience and testing, or pay to win. This is when you realize that lakes like this are literally like call of duty but for old dudes with pot bellies and beer addiction and it's just pay to win.

Maybe I'm just bad at fishing in big lakes, I have only ever fished in that one I think. I haven't even been kayaking for a year.
