In this episode, we take four bike frames and cut them up, Specialized, Cervelo S5, Canyon and Trifox. A sample from each was then sent away for testing. The results were entirely as expected. They were all made from similar carbon types. Of those tested, the canyon, appeared to be using a stiffer material. It's more likely the difference was in the resin.
Of more concern, was the effect a defect would have on the local strength.
If you are on the lookout for a stiff frame. Get one with as few defects as possible (that will be hard to judge), the smallest frame that you can fit on and the largest section tubing
