For thousands of years small homes were built of natural materials that were locally sourced. After spending a lot of time exploring this area and identifying many useful natural resources I decided to start building my new hut. I chose a location that is surrounded on three sides by vegetation so that my hut will blend in well with the surroundings and remain hidden. Strong sticks are for digging and broken stones for cutting willow branches. Yucca leaves turn into rope and a nearby clay source will be my concrete substitute. Follow along as I take you through the detailed step-by-step process of building this maya style hut.

This is the eighth installment of a new series exploring this topic of "New Beginnings".
