Ready to level up your pottery skills? In this week's video, I'll guide you through the process of throwing a larger bowl on the potter's wheel using 4 lbs of clay. If you've tried platters, you might find this surprisingly easier!
We'll cover all the essential steps, from wedging and centering your clay to opening the well and pulling up the walls. I'll share my techniques for shaping a substantial bowl, focusing on throwing vertically first for more control, especially if you're newer to larger forms.
But that's not all! Stick around to the end where we'll explore some fun and easy ways to add interesting textures to the outside of your bowl using a metal rib. This optional step can really make your piece unique!
