Another one in which I feel the need to say: as critical and intense as I sound, I swear that I'm actually having a great time, lol.
This song...it's like pure Classical Odysseus: saying the right thing to get people around him to do things, all the while lying to himself and deflecting blame. And in the midst of all this, he's doing the cruelest thing he can, but refusing to see and believe it. The idea of "When does a man become a monster?" is so interesting because what it seems Odysseus will need to do is accept that there are monstrous aspects about himself: one is not wholly "good" or wholly "monstrous."
But that would require him to self-reflect, lol, and we all know he's not the greatest at that.
It's also interesting in how the way the cyclops encounter plays out here is like a direct mirror of what Odysseus will encounter when he eventually returns home to Ithaca. But we're a ways off from that ;)
Anywho, fair warning: the next video is much longer and ya girl got very intense about choices that were made...
