This video details PART 1 my creative process as I create two new paintings inspired by an existing painting. I'm working on a painting or two (TBD) for someone special and knew I wanted it/them to feel like another painting I created this year. (Here's a link to the video I created while making the original painting: https://youtu.be/Mv9e3w_blHY?si=eoKuMWfaRjNuwUh_ ). I set out to use the same general color palette and wonky shapes and enjoyed playing with new ways to play with similar, but different shapes and marks. I do not recreate the original painting - that was not my intention. However, I do create some interesting new paintings that are heavily influenced by the original. Stay tuned for PART 2 to see how these two paintings end up!
Let me know what you think - Do you think these two are too similar to each other? Too similar to the original? Do you wish they were MORE similar? Tell me in the comments!
