In this final episode of the season, I return to Yves Gillen, the talented gardener of the Jardins du Marais, to discover his work and share a warm moment at the end of the year. As soon as I arrive, I am greeted by the first flowers of his Camellias, offering a touch of color in the middle of winter. We observe broken branches on his banana tree, but also an impeccably maintained vegetable garden, proof of his passion and know-how. Yves explains to us how he creates mulch by mixing different foliage, forming rows of colors that add a unique aesthetic dimension to his garden.

On the way to his potato production beds, we are struck by the spectacular change in his land. Yves has undertaken to clear all the reeds, thus opening up the space and giving a new perspective to his garden. A titanic task that he carries out alone, with admirable determination. We then discover his beds, where the green manure thrives much better than in the vegetable garden, already shredded for the winter. This attention to detail and intelligent soil management are a lesson in sustainable gardening.

To conclude this visit, Yves takes us to see the consequences of the storms, where no fewer than six oak trees were uprooted. With pragmatism, he shows us how he cuts these gigantic logs and plans to store them to free up space. This space will soon welcome cypress trees that he has carefully prepared in the nursery. As we say goodbye to Yves, we wish him a happy holiday season and salute this year rich in learning. "Au Fil des Saisons avec Yves Gillen" ends here for the winter, but we will see you next summer for new exclusive episodes. In the meantime, Yves is starting his hibernation period and will reopen his garden to the public at Easter.

Grandiflora wishes you a wonderful holiday season and hopes to see you again as soon as possible in 2025.

Garden well! 🍃
