Amalgamated Society of Engineers v Adelaide Steamship Co Ltd (1920) is one of the most important Australian law cases in history. In the Engineers Case, the High Court of Australia decided to use a new method of constitutional interpretation. The Australian Constitution was to be interpreted literally, according to the ordinary meaning of the text of the Constitution.
