Ernesto Sabato (Rojas, 1911 - Santos Lugares, 2011) was an important Argentine writer, essayist, physicist and painter.
He wrote three novels: "The tunnel", "On heroes and tombs" and Abaddon the exterminator "(1974), and countless essays in defense of democracy and respect for human rights.
Sabato received the appointment of Knight of the Legion of Honor of France in 1979, and the Miguel de Cervantes Award in 1984.
In recent times, his progressive loss of sight kept him from writing, although he discovered painting and dedicated a large part of his last years to it.
