OCTAVIO PAZ A FONDO - 1977 - B / W - 86 minutes
In 1977 diplomatic relations with Mexico had already been reestablished after Franco's death, which gives a singular importance to this program with Octavio Paz (1914 - 1998).
His early interest in politics - his grandfather was Zapata's personal advisor - and culture, led him to a broad reflection that he developed as an essayist and editor of the magazines "Plural" and "Vuelta".
His opinions on the relations between Mexico and Spain "there are two aspects of my tradition that are deeply unpleasant to me: the centralism of Madrid and the Aztec centralism", on the State "the great criminal of the twentieth century is the centralist State", they are linked with the aesthetics "surrealism was the last great spiritual movement of the West", and those of a great writer "woe to those who do not know grammar!" and poet.
One of the main threads of the program is his book of poems Pasado en Claro, with whose last verse Paz says goodbye: "I am the shadow cast by my words." In 1990 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.
