It's not.

To make the 1944 Trader Vic's Mai Tai:
--------------------------------------
1oz fresh lime juice
1/4oz rock candy syrup (in the video I said simple syrup... the difference is 3:1 sugar to water vs 1:1. Vic used 3:1.)
1/4oz orgeat
1/2oz orange curacao
1oz dark Jamaican rum
1oz Martinique rum
--------------------------------------

Shake with crushed ice until chilled. Pour into double old fashioned glass.
Garnish with fresh mint and a spent lime shell.
