In this second part of our two-part series, we continue building realistic foliage for Unreal Engine 5 using only free tools. We’ll take the textures we created in GIMP and use Materialize to generate detailed maps, including normals, height, and ambient occlusion. After that, we’ll bring everything into Unreal Engine 5 and set up a custom shader using the node-based material editor to bring our foliage to life.
By the end of this tutorial, you’ll have a fully functional foliage system ready to use in your projects.
