## Ingredients
### For the cake:
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 packet vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 packet baking powder
### For the syrup:
- 3 cups sugar (1 cup caramelized, 2 cups added)
- 3 cups water
### For the cream:
- 3 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons flour (not heaped)
- 1 tablespoon starch
- Half a tea cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon grated coconut
- 1 heaping tablespoon powdered whipped cream
- 1 packet vanilla
### For the topping:
- Clotted cream
- Ground pistachio (optional walnut or hazelnut)
## Instructions
1. For the cake, take 4 eggs into a mixing bowl. Add 1 cup sugar and 1 packet vanilla and beat until frothy.
2. Sift 1 cup flour and 1 packet baking powder into the mixture. Mix until all ingredients are combined.
3. Line the bottom of a large square baking dish with parchment paper and pour the cake batter on it, spreading evenly. Bake in a preheated 175-degree oven for about 30-35 minutes. Do the toothpick test and remove from the oven. Let it cool completely.
4. For the syrup, take 1 cup sugar into a pan. Shake the pan occasionally to caramelize the sugar. When it turns light brown, add 2 cups sugar. Lower the heat and add 3 cups water. If the sugar solidifies, don’t worry, it will melt as it boils. Boil until the sugar completely dissolves and let it cool.
5. For the cream, take 3 cups milk into a pot. Add 2 tablespoons flour, 1 tablespoon starch, and half a tea cup sugar, and mix well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it boils. After it starts boiling, cook on low heat for another 2-3 minutes while stirring, then remove from heat. Let it cool, stirring occasionally. Once cooled, add 1 tablespoon grated coconut, 1 heaping tablespoon powdered whipped cream, and 1 packet vanilla and beat well.
6. Turn the completely cooled cake upside down and remove it from the baking dish. Carefully peel off the parchment paper. Cut the cake in half horizontally with a long knife. Place one layer back in the baking dish and pour half of the cooled syrup evenly over it. Set aside the remaining syrup for the top.
7. Spread the cream evenly over the cake layer. Place the other cake layer on top and pour the remaining syrup evenly over it. Cover and refrigerate for 2-3 hours. If you have time, refrigerate overnight.
8. Before serving, cut the dessert into slices. Place a teaspoon of clotted cream on each slice and sprinkle with ground pistachio.
## Tips
- Be careful during the caramelization stage of the sugar; if it burns, it will taste bitter.
- Both the cake and the syrup should be cold.
- Letting the dessert sit in the fridge overnight enhances its flavor.
