An early morning cycle ride around the lanes & countryside of my home; a landscape of wheat fields, some with the crop still standing, some now harvested with great, round bales dotted here & there...hedgerows, edging the fields, trees standing watch...
It's a landscape that continues to fascinate me - as does creating these, quick ink & Art Graf studies... I am trying to capture this landscape, to say what I want to say, with the minimum of marks...
Working over several pieces at once stops the 'fiddling'...and using the spatula/scraper also serves the same purpose, producing, as it does, random marks which I tease into a semblance of the landscape.
I am not sure what purpose these sketches serve or what they will lead to; I just know that I enjoy drawing them! And that's the key to creating work that you love!
I used:
Seawhite of Brighton 220gsm cartridge paper
Carbon black acrylic ink
Art Graf pigment block
Aft Graf graphite powder
