The theme for today’s session is simplifying complex challenges.
So I’ve given myself a few in this subject, that I’m going to attempt to solve in real time in this week’s session.
To be fair, I’m going to need rattle along at a bit of a pace to get through all this today, so be warned!
But do feel free to paint along - sometimes having a time constraint is good, it stops you fiddling. And you can always do a more careful version later :)
The main challenges for this subject are:
. Glass in shadow
. Light travelling through the lemon slice
. And as always, painting the absolute minimum to make the subject come to life!
The app I use to investigate the colour is called ChromaMagic. You can find it on the Apple and Google Play stores, and there is also a Windows version. It's very inexpensive and extremely useful!
You can get the Munsell value scale - which allows you to translate values from the app directly to your painting - from Paul Centore on Ebay here, also very inexpensive: https://www.ebay.com/itm/223003792036
