➡️ At almost 600 votes, YOU chose "Leave That Thing Alone" for my next @rush reaction and analysis video! A few of you hinted I should do the Time Machine Live DVD version, and I'm SO glad I did (I almost did the studio version, from 1993's "Counterparts" album). Rush are notorious for elevating their live shows with extended jams and solos, and BOY did Geddy Lee's bass solo blow my head off. In this video, I discuss the beautiful contrast between Alex's lead tone and Geddy's grittier sound, how the song subtly shifts from a darker minor sound and moves to the Dorian mode (and how that single note change is SO effective), Geddy's aggressive plucking technique, his signature "flicking" technique, a breakdown of a few of his bass fills, highlights his chemistry with Neil Peart, tips on improvisation, and much more!
