The Juttiga Temple, officially known as the Sri Uma Vasuki Ravi Someshwara Swamy Temple, is a historic Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Juttiga, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Often referred to as "Dakshina Kasi" (Southern Kashi), it features a unique Swayambhu (self-manifested) Shiva Lingam, believed to be millions of years old. This lingam is said to have been established before Lord Rama's era, adding deep historical and mythological significance to the site.
The temple's history dates back to the 15th century when it was renovated by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. According to legends and inscriptions, it has connections to episodes involving Vasuki (king of serpents) and mentions in the Vayu Purana. The temple complex also includes shrines for deities like Goddess Durga, Kaala Bhairava (the temple’s guardian), and various other deities.
The temple opens daily from 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is considered a place of peace and spirituality, attracting pilgrims and devotees seeking blessings in a serene environment.
