In 1947, Abdul Hameed, a boy of Bhatti Rajput family of Gharka village of Tarn Taran Sahib Tehsil, was only 11 years old. He escaped from the refugee camp after hearing the news that conveys heading toward Pakistan is being attacked by miscreants.
He came back to his native village to take shelter, where he started working with a Sikh farmer but due to the uncourteous behavior of family members, Abdul Hameed left for another village Tur, situated in Tarn Taran district nowadays. In Tur village, a humble & Kind man Sardar Balwant Singh adopted him as a son.
After spending many years with the Balwant Singh family, Abdul Hameed alias Hameeda left for Pakistan to locate his own parents as one of his maternal uncles inform him about his family after reaching in Tur.
