A relative newcomer to the class, the Genesis GV70 was introduced in 2022. It competes with small luxury SUVs such as the BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and Audi Q5. The GV70 is an impressive entry in the class, with a premium look and feel, appealing powertrain selections, a smooth ride, and impressive value.

A big part of the GV70’s appeal comes from its aesthetic. On the outside, it’s sleek and modern. On the inside, it feels spacious and comfortable with a roomy second row. The fit and finish of the cabin is impressive, with high-end materials used on most surfaces. The GV70 is priced lower than most of its rivals though it rarely shows — it feels just as upscale as more expensive competitors.

What’s more, the GV70 is a pleasure to drive. It’s comfortable and quiet over rough roads and it feels athletic on curvy mountain roads. The standard turbocharged 2.5-liter engine will be peppy enough for most buyers, but with the optional turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 the GV70 is seriously quick.

There are some drawbacks with the GV70, but they’re minor. Fuel economy is slightly below the class average, as are the GV70’s measurements for cargo and passenger space, but only by a small margin. And, if you’re familiar with Kia/Hyundai products, some of the cabin switchgear will feel a bit like it’s been sourced from less-expensive cars. Those small foibles aren’t enough to keep us away, though, or keep us from recommending the 2025 Genesis GV70.
