The original, Issigonis-designed Austin and Morris Mini is Britain's most successful car, but in the late 1970s, it was being outclassed by more modern competition, so British Leyland developed a new contender - the Austin Metro. It would look like a foregone conclusion, therefore, that the Mini would cease to be in 1980, but It lived on, and today on Twin-Cam, we're exploring why that was the case and how the Mini built itself a legacy and became a cult classic in its own time.
