The tiny microscopic organisms that float in water are called plankton. There are two types of plankton. 1) Plant particles or phytoplankton 2) Animal particles or zooplankton. The tiny creatures that float in the water are called zooplankton. They are larger in size than the plant particles. Fauna or zooplankton is the main food of dimpona or dhanipona Which plays a major role in the growth of fish. These animal particles are a very favorite food of fish. In the natural diet, fish derives about 40 to 50 percent of animal meat or protein from animal particles alone. The beneficial organisms for fish are - Daphnia, Bosnia, Philinia, Diaptomas cyclops, Moyna Protozoa, Rotifer etc.Zooplankton or animal particles cannot make their own food directly. In this case, the food is mainly dependent on the phytoplankton in the pond.Therefore, if you want to produce sufficient amount of zooplankton in the pond, it is necessary to keep the water of the pond green first, i.e. it is recommended to have sufficient phytoplankton in the water of the pond.
The ingredients we need to make zooplankton or animal particles in the pond are - 1) Autobran of Auto Rice Mill. If bran is not available, DORB or wheat flour or corn flour or flour or rice flour can be used. 2) Chitagur or molasses: Molasses is the dark, sticky and sugar rich by-product that is found when extracting sugar from sugarcane.3) Yeast: Yeast is a type of fungus. It is mainly used to make alcohol, bakery industry and food.
To make zooplankton or animal particles in the pond, mix the mixture well with 5 to 7 times the amount of 200 gram bran, 50 gram molasses and 5 gram yeast per decimal in hot water and leave it for 24 hours. Keep the mixture in the container with the mouth open. After 24 hours, the upper part of the mixture should be sprinkled around the pond again with the same amount of hot water and the next day the whole mixture should be sprinkled around the pond. Before applying this dose, the color of the pond water should be green. Applying this dose every 7 to 10 days will improve the fish production and growth in the pond.
