If you're coming off a cold or another illness, getting your voice in shape again can be tough!
You might find that you've lost some range and flexibility in your voice, or that your voice gets tired quicker than usual. Don't be frustrated - this is totally normal after an extended period of vocal rest or vocal cord swelling/inflammation.* Coughing is especially hard on the voice and will likely cause hoarseness.
Give your voice and body the rest it needs, but once you're ready to jump into singing again, ease in with some gentle vocal exercises like these.
Any questions? Drop them in the comments!
*Note: be sure to check in with your voice teacher or a voice care professional if you experience pain when singing. It's advisable to rest your voice when your throat is swollen.
