Beach fishing on the Oregon Coast. Surf Fishing for Surf Perch and Flounder fishing was hot! My main target was red tail surf perch, but it's known that flounder like to hang out in these waters on the flats, and usually close to shore. I've done a lot of surf fishing for surf perch but i haven't done a lot of fishing for flounder, usually when i catch a flounder it's on accident. But the Flounder fishing setup is basically just like the surf fishing setup for surf perch, and the baits can be the same as well. So catching a flounder when you are surf fishing may come as a surprise, but it is known to happen, not to mention how delicious flounder are!
My surf fishing rigs are basically the same as usual....
A high/low rig or top/bottom rig as well as using the Carolina rig or Fish finder rig. The bait that i'm using is the same on both setups, switching between Berkley Gulp Sand Worms and some frozen Razor Clam necks from some clamming trips earlier in the season. For more details on the setups used, there is more info on specifics as well as affiliate links to products on Amazon. I do receive a small compensation for referring these products, BUT these are things i already use.
If you are searching for the location of this video, you found it... thanks for reading.. Location is Sunset beach near seaside. There really is no secret spot along the beach. Any are has the potential to be just as good as the next. Your best bet is to get out, throw some casts and see what happens. If the fish aren't biting, it's time to start moving down the beach until you start finding fish.
