ഒരു കാലത്ത് സജീവമായി നിലനിന്നിരുന്ന കേരളത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന പരമ്പരാഗത തൊഴില്‍ മേഖലകളിലൊന്നാണ് കശുവണ്ടി വ്യവസായം. എന്നാല്‍ ആ മേഖലയിന്ന് അതിന്റെ അവസാന വക്കിലാണ്. ഏത് നിമിഷവും പൂട്ടിപോകും വിധം പ്രതിസന്ധിയിലുഴറുന്ന ഈ വ്യവസായവും അതിനെ ആശ്രയിച്ച് ജീവിക്കുന്ന തൊഴിലാളികളും ജീവിതപ്രതിസന്ധിയിലാണ്. അവര്‍ക്ക് തൊഴില്‍ സുരക്ഷ ഉറപ്പാക്കേണ്ട സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ ഈ വ്യവസായത്തെ തന്നെ പൂര്‍ണമായി അവസാനിപ്പിക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യവുമായിട്ടാണ് മുന്നോട്ട് പോകുന്നതെന്നാണ് കശുവണ്ടി സംരക്ഷണ സമിതി ആരോപിക്കുന്നത്. തങ്ങള്‍ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന പ്രതിസന്ധികളെ കുറിച്ചും തൊഴിലുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ആശങ്കകളെ കുറിച്ചും തുറന്നുപറയുകയാണ് കൊല്ലം-തിരുവനന്തപുരം എന്നീ ജില്ലകളുടെ അതിര്‍ത്തി പ്രദേശത്തെ കശുവണ്ടി തൊഴിലാളികള്‍.
The cashew industry, once a thriving traditional employment sector in Kerala, is now facing extinction, leaving its workers in crisis.
