In previous episodes of "let's build a whole different synth inside of the opsix because user algorithms are magic", I've tackled a polyphonic subtractive synth in the style of the Juno and a weird but no less wonderful, modulation-heavy Buchla Music Easel inspired patch.
This video is a little different: rather than try to replicate a particular synth, instead I'm emulating a feature found in a range of electronic instruments, that's especially evocative of a particular era in synthesis: a filter bank.
Filter banks have a wonderful, resonant, ringing character that can be used in a range of patches, but are especially renowned for all things "vocal". So in this video, expect string machine/Vox Humana patches, fake vocoding and a whole army of chatty robot friends!
