What better way to break in a new bike than a sunny day up a mountain in the lakes. Had this a while but due to a few teething issues with the setup and that the Mega is still running sweet as a nut, I've had no real drive to swap over to the new rig
When I buy a new bike, usually every few years I tend to get something with a significant difference to the last i.e. 26 wheels to 27.5 to 29 and now Mullet, this has a coil shock which I haven't ridden before, electonic gears (let's see how the rear mech holds up with regular lakes riding) not to mention the high pivot arrangement. Forks have gone from 34 to 35 to 36 and now 38. A bit crazy really but you gotta move with the times
With hindsight and I read a lot about doing some local laps to set up a bike which I've never really done but think this was not the best idea when I got to the summit realising the brakes were rubbing front and back and the forks felt quite harsh. I was a good day, new bike, nice weather but probably not an ideal route for it's first outing but at least I got a feel for it riding down a mountain
You will still see me switching bikes, I'm not inclined to sell the Mega because it would be worth very little on the second hand market so has more value to put more miles on it and it's still a great bike
