In this video, I'm showing you 1 scale pattern that can work for (almost) all scales! In addition, famed guitarist David Grier is going to answer some hard-hitting questions, you'll get a behind the scenes look at NAMM, and Tom Sands is showing you a guitar made from a legendary tree!
In the first segment, I want to reinforce the idea of learning a scale shape rather than a scale itself. Instead of memorizing notes, memorize a pattern or shape to learn scales — and then apply them to different parts of the fretboard!
I'll show you the EXACT shape you need to learn all scales. Just remember that if you want to play a minor scale, just start that major scale pattern on a different note other than the major 1st — be sure to watch the whole video to understand what I mean!
Be sure to leave a note in the comment if this method worked for you...I always love to hear if you have any breakthrough moments on your guitar journey!

Up next, I want to ask you a question: have you heard of "The Tree" Mahogany?
Here's the thing...
There's this ancient tree that was felled in the rainforest almost 60 years ago. The tree couldn't be recovered at the time, but once it finally was, the loggers were shocked at the quality of the wood inside "The Tree."
Many luthiers, furniture makers, and other artisans quickly realized how beautiful this specific Mahogany tree was. In addition, the luthiers understood that the tonal quality of the wood was unparalleled.
Now, many guitars have been made with the wood from "The Tree," including Santa Cruz guitars.
Today, I'm featuring Tom Sands' Model M Family Tree guitar. You DO NOT want to miss Tom's breakdown of his stunning guitar.

To be honest, David is incredibly inspiring and his twists on melody and flatpicking are so awesome.
Today, David is going to answer some of the questions that you guys have for David Grier!
