This week, I’m going to take you by the hand and lead you through every step of building an Orchestral Template.

Templates are massive time-savers, as they’re Logic projects which provide you with a wire-frame outline of all of the Instruments, FX routings and Track Stacks you’ll need whenever you want to write for sampled orchestral instruments. I’ll show you how to set up Bus routings from each Instrument and how to assign these into the Track Stacks for each instrument group.

We’ll also see how to configure Track Headers and I’ll ask you to consider exactly what you want your Template to contain. We’ll look at the power of a Duplicate Track waiting inside each Track Stack and even look at details like assigning colours. Templates offer you a chance to really think about how you like to write music and then to provide a set of resources so that you’re ready to write the moment you boot Logic up.
