If the 2025 Lotus Emeya's name has you thinking about lightweight, British sports cars, think again. Technically, Lotus remains a British brand, although it is now owned by Chinese automotive powerhouse Geely. That said, the Emeya is most certainly not a lightweight sports car – instead, it's a heavyweight sports sedan.
That's right; the Emeya has four doors, with its significant heft coming from its fully electric powertrain, which is a departure from the supercharged petrol engines were used to seeing under the bonnet of Lotus models in more recent times. The Emeya offers two versions of its dual-motor all-wheel-drive set-up, with the 'entry level' offering 450kW/710Nm, while the flagship ups the ante to 675kW/985Nm.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Stephen Ottley gets up close and personal with the Emeya to find out if it really has what it takes to mix it up with the likes of the critically acclaimed Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.
