In this video we will perform some basic repairs on a beautifully original 1958-60 Magnatone 280A (sold by Noble as their "Symphonic" Model 990). In an effort to maintain maximum originality, the owner requested that only faulty parts be replaced. Areas requiring repair were the -DC bias circuit, power cord and primary wiring, output tube balancing and biasing, and the failure of 2 of 4 cabinet speakers to produce any sound. We will review some interesting design features of the circuit and produce a stereo recording of the audio demonstration, using two completely different speakers.
In addition, we will witness a youthful Jack mastering the art of mop surfing, and see Part 1 of a video series featuring the upgrading of the entire front suspension of a chopped & channeled 1930 Ford coupe.
