Inspired by my walks around the Lincolnshire countryside, a place of big skies, fast moving weather, wheat fields, hedgerows, trees dotted around, footprints and sign posts, I decided to begin a new concertina sketchbook. I wanted to capture images of the things that stuck in my mind the most: swaying barley, birds wheeling around on the wind, clouds tumbling past, tractor ruts.... And, as finding a way to portray those things was the focus, I decided to keep the palette mostly black and white, with just the hint of the soft ochre pastel and collage papers... I love the format of these concertina sketchbooks, just fabulous for producing an ongoing narrative; one that can be altered by folding and re-folding the pages... It's a never-ending story!

Materials used:
Seawhite of Brighton concertina sketchbook
Seawhite of Brighton black drawing ink
Schminke granulation fluid
Collage paper

I usually get asked where I got my Letter Set from....I bought it a few years back from The Range here in the UK - I think it cost around £5 including the ink pad. For those overseas, The Range is a store that sells a bit of everything - probably similar to a Walmart..?
