The Great Camphor Tree of Kayashima is 700 years old, almost the same age as Masashige Kusunoki. It sprouted when the Osaka Plain was still a wetland, and has been looking down on the activities of the people who began to live here. The Great Camphor Tree was at risk of being cut down during the construction of the elevated Keihan quadruple track in the 1970s. However, workers who tried to cut down the tree were involved in a series of unforeseen accidents, and it was rumored that it was the "curse of the Great Camphor Tree."
